Laparoscopic hysterectomy: LSH option

Has anyone experienced laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy? It sounds like a much faster recovery rate than anything else. I just started playing tennis and working out again, doing well, and don't want to give it up. I'd like to know about costs as well. Thank you for any help!

Laparoscopic hysterectomy: LSH option

I had LSH on 1/22. The recovery so far is going smooth, as in I haven't had any problems. However, I do get tired easy and have to be careful about sitting upright for too long. As for the cost, my hospital bill was about $18,000...the primary surgeon was about $2,000...assisting surgeon was about $750...haven't gotten pathology or anesthiologist yet...

Laparoscopic hysterectomy: LSH option

I had LSH/BSO on September 21. I was back at work (easily) on October 1. Went in on a Friday (am) out by Friday at 2PM. We went shopping that evening and to the movies the next day. It was very easy for me. I was a little sore, and the first week I got tired and a little nauseous (probably from the HRT), but I went back to work that next week and have never looked back. My out of pocket was about $2000 (the bills looked pretty exorbitant, though -- I think upwards of $30,000!) Luckily the surgeon was in network
If you can, it's definitely the way to go.
Best of luck to you

Thank you sooooooo much for responding. I was going to completely back out but I meet with my GYN tomorrow and will discuss this option as well as UFE. The sounds of a 6 mo. recovery are just too much!
Thank you!

Laparoscopic hysterectomy: LSH option

Hi Bedelia,

I also had a LSH. It is still one of the best things I ever did for my long term health. I would do my LSH over in a second to have the quality of life I have now without fibroids.

Sending best wishes~

Mary
