surgery delay 3 wks - going nuts - this happen to anyone else?

I was scheduled for Nov. 12 but doc office called this afternoon and told me I would have to be rescheduled for Nov. 29. I had started mentally prepping and getting things ready around the house. Now I am going insane! I counted the days and I'm going to have yet another period!(I'm still bleeding from the one last month! On the 12th day now.) I look pregnant from the fibroids and I have stress incontinence so I'm wearing a pad whether I have my period or not. I'm so miserable I could :scream:!!!

Has this ever happened to anyone else and how do you cope with the delay?

You have my sympathy....

I can't think of anything worse than being mentally prepared for something like this and then being told your agony will be prolonged another 2 weeks. This is like a death row sentence....except that the extension is not a reprieve! I have the same fear...they kept wavering between two surgery dates..11/21 and 11/30, before confirming 11/21 (thank goodness)....I still cross my fingers that they won't change it on me.

Hang in there....we're gonna be just fine....

This happened to me too. I was scheduled for Nov. 6th and then after waiting 2 weeks, thinking I only had 3 weeks left, my doc added a procedure which pushed the surgery back 3 more weeks. Now I'm scheduled for Nov. 27th. How I coped: I was miserable, then I focused on other things for 2 weeks, and now the time seems to be flying by. I'm so tired these days, I'll never get everything done i want to get done.

Sorry.... it is hard....you just want to be on the other side

Blessings,
Lisa

I'm sorry about your delay. This is a major event in our lives, difficult enough to wrap our brain around, and then the rug gets pulled out from under ya and moved someplace else!

I can't say 'it happened to me, too', but there are plenty of ladies in here who CAN say that, and it is frustrating and disturbing. I know I would have had a huge problem with it if they did that to me. But there is a bright side. You do have more time to prepare, and you have more time to plan for the holidays. And you have your sisters here to understand and support you.

Lisa's idea is a great one: try to focus on other things for a while; the last thing you need is to get all stressed out.

Again, I'm sorry - here's a big

BiG hUgS!!!

's to you, sweetie!

No one should have to be put through that! "Oh, bother." Pooh would say!!

I am certain your Doc knows this is agonizing for you! Ask him/her to please make sure of the next availability....and if you are not against taking something...maybe ask for something for anxiety?

Poo!!

AHHHHHHH

I am so sorry. Did the Dr give you a reason why they postponed your surgery.

I did not have this done to me, but as another sister said this happens more than you think.

Good luck

I can relate. I was scheduled. Went in got set up with my IV in pre op etc. The dr. and her nurse knew I had a cold but told me the surgery was a go. The anesthesiologist came in and said I had pneumonia. He cancelled. I thought I was going to have a breakdown. To boot the surgery was urgent because of a malignancy marker in my blood work.

The surgery was rescheduled for one week later. I went on antibiotics. I still had it a week later but my doctor said I couldn't wait. I had my surgery with an epidural. The anesthesiologist and my dr. argued again about doing the surgery but this time we went ahead.

I am now 9 days post op. Still waiting for the final path reports, but the initial ones during surgery looked okay. Borderline tumors blah blah.

I know the huge mental letdown that you are going through. I know the frustration that you are feeling.

Just try to find peace in something while you wait. Maybe you could begin a long book to keep your mind going. A feeble suggestion I know but something.

count down

I have gotten a lot of personal responses and boy do I feel guilty. Gosh, what some of you have been through nearly makes your hair stand on end. I've actually gotten some stuff done here at home today because I keep telling myself it won't be that much longer. Is it just me, or is this website addictive? I can't stop logging in and reading about everybody. Ya'll are the nicest bunch of women - so compassionate and loving. I don't know what I'd do without ya.

No Hausfrau - it's not just you!

I too keep coming back and coming back. I work out of my home two days a week and on those days especially, I'm always drawn back here!

I've known since Oct 5 that I would be having hyst and I believe all the princesses that say the waiting is the hardest part! I know if I got a call delaying it I would feel just as you feel.

Try to hang in there and think good thoughts. Best wishes!
