Well it is here and my god, it is kicking me good too!!!! I was up and down all night long with killer cramps and bleeding is heavy this time. I have been hugging the sofa most of the day. Hubby went to the store on his way home. He got me a new product called theramacare. It is a heated patch that you put on your tummy for cramps. It is suppose to work for up to 8 hours. We shall see!! I just got done putting it on to see if it will help with the cramps.

I did call my doctors office today to see about the mortrin that I usually take for my cramps. She said it would be okay as long as I stop taking atleast 3 days before my surgery. It since it is on the 18th then I am okay.

If anyone is having second thoughts about having a hysterectomy, please remember the pains that you have and the reason you need one. I know that I am looking forward to getting my done and the road to recovery started.

Thanks again for all the advice on this site.

Hi Deby!

s to you! I hope you are feeling better soon! Let us know how that patch works! It seems like our last periods come on us with a vengence! Not sure why other than maybe we no longer feel like we have to manage and deal with the pain like we once did???!!! Well, I am doing a happy dance for you and your last bout of dealing........I wish quick relief for you and if you are one that uses a heating pad, you may want to hang on to it for managing some post op discomfort. I continued to experience back cramps for a couple of weeks post op and although it wasn't nearly as bad as my usual cramps, it was my best friend for a bit! All the best to you!

Deby, I'm in the same boat. My surgery is 02/22/02 (gee, there are a lot of 2s in that, aren't there? Tell me that's a good omen!) and period started yesterday. It's a nasty one! Trying to show me who's boss, I guess, but I'll show it! I had read a message on the board about avoiding ibuprofen (which I usually take for pain and to reduce bleeding) so was relieved to read what your doctor said about it. Thanks for posting - hope your surgery goes well.

Boy, I just am finishing my period and it too was a terrible one with the cramps, headaches, backaches... I am not scheduled for my surgery unitl March 15th. I would love to say this was my last period but I figure I have 2 or 3 more to come before the surgery. Guess why I am getting my surgery done! I can't wait!!!!

period during surgery

Okay I know this will rank in the 'most retarded questions' but what the heck! Will it matter in any way if I am on my period during my surgery? Anyone?

there is a thread on here somewhere that talks about this. I think most people have said it doesn't but I would look for that thread if I were you. Or, call and ask the Doc.
