how long will my belly be swollen and tender after hysterectomy

Okay, probably I am just stupid (sorry), but what is actually inside your belly that makes it swell?
A week after surgery the doc told me it was bruised and exudate, but I suppose that should be gone within a few weeks.
So what is actually this swelly belly?
I understand the belly is swollen and that it happens most when you do too much, but why? How does it work physically?

But whatever it is ... lets hope it will be gone asap for all of us

Thanks NovBabe. I do stretches all the time for all the parts of my body... but maybe Ill check that out.. more info the better right?

I had my hys on March 14th and I am still swollen as well. I actuall had to go buy new pants so I could return to work becuase my pants pre-surgery still do not fit. I am very afraid I will stay swollen and sore like I am now.........helllpppppppp

I had mine on 11th march and still can't do my trousers up, by the evening I am desperate to get my sweat pants on. I guess at least we are all the same.

Hi thanks for the advise re prune juice I bought some and it seems to be helping.
Does your tummy get more bloated as the day goes on

Yes goes up and down like a yoyo

Nothing I have tried has helped the swelly belly. I have been rubbing bio oil and/or cocoa butter on my belly regularly to hopefully keep any new stretch marks from showing up. I used to try very hard to hide my belly with clothes.. but with how big it is now.. there just is no hiding it. I have been trying to embrace my new body for now and not worry about how it looks... it is what it is and there isn't much I can do about it.

I think I will be going shopping again soon to get some more pajama pants in black that can pass for pants for when I go back to work... and put my normal pants in storage for awhile.
