dVH/RALH: What do you eat the day before?

I did not get any restrictions on what I could eat today. A friend suggested that I eat a light diet. What did you eat the day before if you did not have to be on a liquid diet? Thanks

I had my surgery this past Monday, May 13. Currently feeling pretty good. To answer your question, I ate very lightly the day before my hysterectomy. I had fruit, some soup, tea, water, and of course chocolate! I stopped eating by 5pm the day before and for me this worked out fine as I spent much of my time preparing food for the freezer so I will have something to eat when my care provider leaves next week. I also had to do a bowel prep, Ducolax and a Fleet enema. The enema emptied the lower bowel that evening, but the Ducolax kicked in just an hour before surgery (take moistened wipes with you to help with clean up ) ...thank goodness! I entered surgery with no tummy discomfort. Hope this info helps you & goodluck with your surgery.

I was told liquid diet after 5 PM on the day before, nothing after midnight. For breakfast and lunch I'm planning on eating what I normally would: large bowl of oatmeal for breakfast, a piece of fruit or two for lunch. (I'm just not normally much of a luncher!)

If your friends want to take you out for a best-wishes-good-luck lunch, do that the day *before* the day before!
