Lots of pain

Ok, I understand that I have fibroids and that they are uncomfortable at best, but I am having lower right quadrant pain constantly, sometimes I can't stand up and sometimes I walk down the hallway at work limping. I am also having pelvic floor pain and constipation. My doc is out of town until the 29th and my surgery is the 31st. His nurse suggested hot pads, lots of fluids and to stay off my feet as much as possible. If that doesn't help then go to my PCP or the ER. Any other advice out there? I've thought about getting some type of laxative or gas eliminator like gas-x.
Worried, hurting and still have to work----

Lots of pain

Well, I did the Ibuprofin, hot pad, pain killer (Darvocet, Vicodin) routine and it helped some until I had my surgery! I had hemorrhiods something awful and used suppositories to help shrink them, but no constipation.

Good luck!

Lots of pain

I found Benefiber to be wonderful for dealing with constipation. I also recommend the ThermaCare heat packs if you still need to work and can't stay plugged into a heating pad.

If you're using a narcotic pain killer you need to really push the fluids because of their constipating effect, and remember that drinking through straws or drinking chilled water can aggravate gas problems.

Lots of pain

I have a lot of the pain you described when pressure from gas is irritating my larger fibroids. Try the gas-x. Narcotics can make the gas worse. I try to use only nsaids, but sometimes I know there is a need for something stronger. Hot pads help a bit too.
