Just Over 11 Weeks - Feel Dreadful

It's just over 11 weeks since I had my TAH/BSO. My recovery has been fantastic with no problems at all - until now.

I am back at work. I started my new job 4 weeks ago and only worked 3 or 4 days a week for the first 3 weeks but last week was my first week of 5 days.

I am not sleeping very well at all. I wake up at 2am every morning and it takes me ages to get back to sleep. I am feeling hot and sweaty all the time. My hair is a complete mess and I just feel like an old woman.

I am so very tired and aching all over. I think most of it is due to HRT (I'm on Tibolone). I'm going to the hospital for a routine blood test on Monday so that my hormone levels can be checked.

Overall, I'm fed up of not being in control of my own body. To sum it up, I feel like cr*p!!!!!!

Are any of my sisters feeling this way?

Rowdy.

Just Over 11 Weeks - Feel Dreadful

Dear Rowdy,
I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. You're only 11 weeks post-op. Complete healing takes time (my soctor says 6 mos. to a year especially for a TAH-BSO). Energy your body would be using for healing is now being used working outside the home five days a week. No wonder you're feeling .

It's good that you're having blood work done. Perhaps an adjustment in your HRT will impact the way you're feeling. Take care. Be encouraged. It does get better but it also takes time. Try to be patient with yourself. Remember to pamper the . You've been through a lot and your body is still on the mend. Again, it gets better.

Love and prayers,

Platypus

Just Over 11 Weeks - Feel Dreadful

Hello Rowdy, sorry to hear you not feeling well. I had my TAH on the 19 May, on my sons 17th birthday. Hopefully it is just a hormone problem and when they fix your level of hormone replacement eveything will be as good as always. The sleepless night i do think has got something to do with the operation, because i kept my ovaries and yet i wake up most nights on the clock the same as you 2am. And i will see the hours go by without sleep. Perhaps if you in the position to spoil yourself do so, go and have your hair done, maybe a nice massage, just spoil yourself. I do hope all will be well for you.

Hi Rowdy

So sorry things have gone downhill for you. It certainly sounds hormonal. You sound exactly the same as I felt before surgery ... I was on Prostap, which put me through an artificial menopause for 3 months and, as you say, it was cr*p.

I was tired and all my joints ached beyond belief. I was hot and sweaty and my skin and hair were a complete mess.

Hopefully, the blood tests will show that your HRT needs tweaking. Hang in there ... they *will* sort everything out for you.

Good Luck.
