Thanks everyone who replied,
Toddswim,
6 1/2 hours is really long to be under. I'm scared of being under that long. Can you tell me what to expect when you wake up? Were you in a lot of pain? Were you under that long because you had a lot of adhesions to clear up first?
Also, anyone who can share how they felt upon waking up from the surgery and their level of pain - I would greatly appreciate it - this is the eve of my surgery and getting nervous, anxious - just thinking this time tomorrow night hopefully I will be in a private hospital room on the way to recovery

I had daVinci and I did have referred gas pain in the right side of my collar bone and neck/shoulder. It was not something so unbearable that I would worry about it if I were you. It is uncomfortable but it is NOT a reason to avoid surgery by any means. I had no pain whatsoever from the surgery anywhere but from the gas. My doctor told me that pain medication does not help with it because it is referred. I used ice and heat on it. I had the uterus, cervix, and tubes removed as well as a heap of adhesions and my bladder had to be removed from my uterus and I was only under anesthesia for 2 hours from start to finish and then moved to recovery. Good luck!!!

Johnsonnelly,
Wow, that is really good that you were only under for two hours - I think my bladder is adhered to uterus too and I have been so worried about a ureter injury - that is a common injury of DaVinci with many adhesions and a risk women have to take - My doctor said about 1 in 1000 which I thought was awesome. At first when I consulted with her she just said I was extremely high risk for that sort of an injury so I really did not want the surgery but after meeting with her the third time and her giving me that number, I felt much better - The main thing is for women to find a very skilled and advanced DaVinci and Laparascopic surgeon especially with prior pelvic surgeries and lots of adhesions.
I just have to hope for the best. I feel better after reading your post. Thank you. Tomorrow is the big day. I have been waiting since April and I really hope it goes well.

I was worried about complications as well but I had absolutely no issues with my bladder post-op and still don't almost one year later. The daVinci surgery has such a low risk of bleeding and more precision removal of organs that I felt more at ease than I would have with another method. You will do great!!

I had a long and complicated DaVinci surgery 5 days ago. Although I still have a pretty bloated belly, it goes down each day and I have had no shoulder pain from the gas. I feel really pretty good now and am only on Advil. I have been moving around the house a lot and making a point of drinking a lot of water. Good luck on your surgery!

I had both posterior and anterior repairs with my hysterectomy and a sacropoplexy. That is why my surgery was so long. I hurt when I woke up but you can tough it out with the pain meds. It will all be ok you will be glad it's done.
I had a catheter which I came home with and it was removed a few day later.
I am 4 miss out and feeling better every day.

I am 4 months out and although I still tire I am doing better everyday. I walked my way back to health.
