Bleeding after sex

I had a total hysterectomy 5 months ago and just had sex for the first time last night (single mother, long story for another day)and had some bleeding (enough to stop what we were doing) which not only freaked me out but totally freaked out my partner. It didn't hurt at all, actually it was really good until the discovery. IS this normal- I'm really concerned.

that must of been scary!! what kind of surgery did you have? I know that right after surgery things are really tight and dry down there and the first time I had intercourse after surgery with DH it was very frightening, didnt enjoy it very much at all!! but I didnt bleed. I would call your doctor and just mention this to him/her and see what she says. maybe if your partner is up to it, maybe you can try it again and see if the same thing happens

I was told to expect spotting the first time but it sounds like you had way more than that.

I think I would call the Dr for advice if I were in your shoes.

If you have a cervix it may well be normal, if you don't then it isn't normal.

I just spoke with my Dr's office and they suspect "granulation tissue" but have an appointment tomorrow morning to get checked to be sure it isn't something else.

I had my appointment with my Dr. yesterday morning and he still suspects it's granulation tissue but did a biopsy just to be safe because of my history. I should find out the results in a day or two.
