Three weeks post hysterectomy: Very sharp pain in my side, anyone else?
Ok, I am not a complainer by any means and my first two weeks went well in terms of recovery. For the last few days I have had a stabbing sensation in my left side. Pain killers don't touch it, only remaining still or holding my scar on the left side does. It feels almost like I am tugging on an internal stitch. This is the side also where I had an ovary and 10cm cyst removed. Drs not concerned as I have no infection and incision is sealed and looks good, but this is preventing me from doing almost anything and I am going crazy being trapped on the couch and in bed.. Anyone had something like this?

Yes. I have had two. Much higher up on my belly then my incision. Doctor is unconcerned as well. Said I'm healing. It did stop after a few days. I had excision of a lot of pelvic adhesions so I kind of thought it might be a couple of sites she cleaned up but I have nothing to back that up with but my own opinion.

Thank you, the pain for me is also much higher than the incision but if I hold firm on the incision it seems to go away. I am thinking of getting a binder, didn't think I needed one but now I'm thinking it may help.. Good to know yours only
Lasted a few days, I keep hoping I will wake up and it will be gone!

Yes, very weird sharp stabbing pain it did go away if I pressed different places but then came right back. I didn't do a belly binder either, I was in the hospital for 4 days and they never gave me one and then I just never got one once I got home, so I'm not sure it would help.
I will be very glad when all the aches and pains are gone!!!

Re: Three weeks post hysterectomy: Very sharp pain in my side, anyone else?
I asked about something similar at my 2 week follow up. Doc said it was probably one of 2 things: stabbing gas pain as the intestines "rearrange" themselves, or nerve twinge from internal stitch.
I didn't get a binder at the hospital either, but asked her about it b/c walking makes me feel the need to 'support' the incision on my left side (largest incision) so she said go ahead and get one.
Hope your pain goes away!!

Its early yet in your recovery, so maybe you should just be resting on the couch. I'd try doing so and see if it gets better.
