I hate this feeling! I am totally off the pain meds, and getting plenty of sleep, and even a little nap most days. I want my brain back! I feel like it is a conscious struggle to focus. A lot of people are calling or emailing, and I don't remember what I told anyone.
What has your experience been? How long does one go until they feel mentally sharp again?

Re: So how long after surgery are you supposed to feel like a zombie/space cadet?
Hmm, I had my surgery on May 6th. I started climbing the walls from boredom after the first week or so, and feel pretty normal now. It's more about being so tired for me, but I feel mentally okay. Everyone is different though, this surgery is a big deal and is not just physically exhausting, but mentally as well. Give yourself a break and know you will be fine in a couple of weeks! Take care!

I'm wondering if I may be anemic, and maybe that is why I feel this way. If I'm not feeling less brain fog soon, I'll contact my doc.

Actually, that's an excellent idea. I don't know why I wasn't thinking of that, because I had to have a blood transfusion in the hospital because I became so anemic due to blood loss during the surgery. I felt so much better afterwards. In the meantime, try to get as much iron as you can!

anemia can definitely cause "brain fog". Also vitamin b12 deficiency can be responsible for that. You can call the Dr. go for a blood test.
I had surgery May 2nd, Felt out of sorts the first week, but ok now
