What to expect from silver nitrate?

At my six week appt mid-December my doctor noticed some tissue at my vaginal cuff. Knowing that I am a slow healer she wanted to see me in eight weeks to recheck. Tomorrow is my appt, and I am scared of having silver nitrate! I have had some terrible pain with my endometriosis and adenomyosis, so I don't know why I am nervous, but I am just tired of having procedures and things hurting. Is it a painful procedure?

Thank you!

I had to have it a couple of times... Being a younger hyster patient and being type 2 diabetic, I had a bit of granulation tissue. It wasn't bad right away, but I was pretty crampy on the drive home. I would have been okay if I had ibuprofen the first time, but remembered to take it on my way out the door the 2nd time. You will see some grey flecks and spotting for a few days, if it is anything more than that or lasts for more than a week, your dr. will need to know about it. Good luck!

I had the silver nitrate at six weeks and it did not hurt at all. At 6 months I had it again and my doctor told me it may hurt this time as the nerves had regenerated. Glad she warned me because it did hurt and I had cramps the rest of the afternoon and evening. The doctor also cut a piece of scar tissue off before she applied the silver nitrate (said it would heal better) this probably added to my pain. I did not take anything for pain before going in because it did not hurt the first time and figured I would be fine. Take ibuprofen before your appointment. The next day I woke up and was fine.
