Almost 4 weeks post op...

I'm almost 4 weeks post op after RSO with vertical incision. I'm still taking 2 extra strength Tylenol 3 to 4 times per day for pain but am worried that this is too much. Should I be concerned? Is anyone else out there still taking this much stuff for pain?

Almost 4 weeks post op...

Everyone tolerates pain at different levels. I weaned myself off the Advil after the first couple of weeks, slowly reducing the dosages and frequency. I wanted to be comfortable but I also wanted to feel a little bit of the pain just to remind me that I was stitched up and not tempted to overdue anything.

At four weeks, I remember not needing to take much medication at all. The odd day I might have needed a couple of advil to get me through, but overall I was off the painkillers by then.

But, like I said, everyone is different. If you are feeling a little weird about the amount of meds you are taking, maybe try a day where you cut back a little bit on the meds. Take them less frequently. You may find that you can go longer without them.

Check with your doc too with regards to the meds. Maybe they aren't strong enough for you if you feel the need to take Tylenols often. Our sisterly advice is helpful, but it doesn't take the place of your specialist!

Best wishes,

Sarah

Almost 4 weeks post op...

Hi,
I'm still taking advil intermittantly 8 weeks out. I have a few days where I don't take any, then other days where I take advil several times during the day. It's just a long process to recovery. I wouldn't worry.
Hope you're feeling better soon!
