Return to physically demanding job?
I am a chef instructor at a culinary arts college. I work ony feet. 6-8 hours per day, plus another 2 hours of desk work. When on my feet, I'm constantly lifting and stretching as it is a commercial cooking environment. Picture watching Iron Chef on Food Network and you'll get a pretty good idea of what my day looks like.
I have a post op appointment scheduled for 5 weeks after surgery and the next semester at the college begins 3 days later. I'm tentatively scheduled to start back for that semester with a limited cooking schedule (4 hrs/day) and more desk work (4-6 hrs/day). I'm worried that it will be too much for me, especially since I don't get to come home and just rest (I have 2 toddlers at home so I come home from work and play mommy all night). My husband works the night shift, so I'm alone with the kids at night. There is truly no rest for the weary.
Has anyone with TAH and a physically demanding job made it back in 5.5 weeks, or am I kidding myself?
