After surgery what unit are you in?

There is probably a GYN Unit. I was in the Woman's cancer unit b/c of my situation; but almost every hospital has a GYN unit or just a general surgery recovery unit. You can always call your hospital and ask. Good Luck! You'll be a sister soon

Depends on the hospital. I was actually on a general surgery floor.

Thanks, I read a post referring to 'babies crying" while in hospital and it made me wonder.

Oh, I was in recovery just out of the operation and though I was on the same floor as labor and delivery, in the hospital I was in, mothers and babies were in one wing and other ob/gyn related patients are in a totally different wing. Never heard a baby cry. That wouldn't have bothered me, but it may some others and they were very respectful about that with me!

it might be best to ask your dr that...i've read where some are on the maternity floor and others on the general surgery one.

More than likely it will be a general medical-surgical unit, which tends to take all of the post-op GYN patients (not C-section), on that one unit. I used to work on such a floor. Our most common admits were the GYN and Ortho surgeries, then all of the other med-surg patients.
Maternity is a different ballpark.

If you want to know for sure, call the hospital and also ask your doctor. There are ladies on the site who have been on pediatrics, labor and delivery, GYN floor, general surgery section, etc. When I had my surgery I could hear both a man and a child in different rooms not far from me as I was on a mixed floor!

After surgery what unit are you in?

I spent the first night on a surgery floor ( I had complications and the maternity floor refused to take me so I was sent upstairs) and the second night on the maternity floor with babies crying down the hall but not in the same room. But I was in a little hospital and they needed the surgery bed. I didn't sleep much in the hospital. I was happy to get home. I was a lousy patient and I annoyed the nurses almost (!!!) as much as they annoyed me. I was never so happy to be home in my life. I had good care but I really sucked at being a patient.
