Re: Toning up

I have an app on my phone. "ab workout". It's great, takes about 5 minutes to do.

Re: Toning up

https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/article_108953.htm has some ideas for gentle ab exercises to get started with. I was back to doing my usual routine of crunches, planks, etc. at eight weeks.

Gotta warn you, though, ab exercises don't do anything for "swelly belly" due to muscular swelling rather than flab and may temporarily increase it. Mine is gradually departing at 6 1/2 months.

Re: Toning up

So "swelly belly" can last 6 months?

Re: Toning up

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: yes BUT not at the same level you're likely experiencing it now! :-)

Mine decreased gradually over time, both in swelliness and duration. For most of the past six months, it's been confined to the evenings and has not been an issue during the day at all. It's just that if I've been wearing close-fitting pants throughout the day, I need to change into something more comfortable in the evenings. And even that's almost gone by now.

I only mentioned swelly belly because if you're working hard to tone up and you're still getting a bit of swelly belly, that can be really discouraging if you don't realize where it's coming from.

Re: Toning up

I use a stretch band and do about 150 semi-crunches daily. I use my elliptical and walk and dance. Fat doesn't know where its living, it just realizes it has a place to hang out...so the old adages are the best, decrease your calories, increase your water intake and move, move, move. Now that I am a little over 4 months post op, I have also added something called the 24 day Ab-so-tightly challenge...it's hellacious but I love it and I only push myself to the point of twinge, no pain...my doctor gave me the okay to start it as well, so check your recovery w/ your doctor!
