3 weeks post op and I am exhausted today!!!

Hi,
I am 3 weeks post op tomarrow. I have been doing really really good, with light cleaning through the day, small errands, and little outings. I haven't felt that tired, and take a small nap when I need it. Haven't been sleeping good at night, just can't seem to get comfy and wake up ALOT! And if I stay in bed longer than 6 hours I get out of bed really really sore? Hasn't seemed to bother me too much during the day, the lack of sleep. Last night we went to visit my uncle in the hospital and did alot of walking(big hospital!) and went to Dairy Queen afterwards, but not any bigger than my biggest trip out.
Well today I just feel like I can not get enough sleep! I slept for almost 3 hours on the couch today! I don't know if the lack of sleep is catching up with me or what.
I think today I feel more exhausted than I have since I came home from the hospital? What the heck!!!!!!?????
Well just had to vent, because I feel so lazy today and kind of crappy. Still very very happy overall with my recovery and really don't get the swelly belly thing to speak of. That I feel really lucky for! I think I am just having a bad day. Thanks for listening. Tiffany

3 weeks post op and I am exhausted today!!!

Hi,

Sorry you are feeling so tired. Around 3 weeks we start to become more active and the stitches inside are letting go and the new healing tissue is starting to try to take over, and it is not that strong yet.

Here are some tips and info from Checkpoints :

Hang in there, it gets better with rest and time.

3 weeks post op and I am exhausted today!!!

Hi Tiffany,
Maybe it is a combination of doing alot yesterday, and not sleeping well!

I would talk with your doctor about not sleeping well at night because you heal during your sleep. I have had problems sleeping for years, and since surgery I have suffered relativly (sp) few sleepless nights. As with you, I don't seem to be able to sleep all night though, I am usually awake after 6 hours sleep because I just have to get up and move around for a while to work the sorness out. My doctor prescribed a mild sleep helper because he didn't feel that I was resting well enough.

Tiffany,

I, too, am at three weeks in my recovery. I thought I was doing better, but for the past three days I have been soooo tired!!!! Three hour naps in the afternoon have been the norm. I'm getting discouraged. I'm seeing the doc in the AM for really bad urinary incontinence that started Friday. I'll ask him about the tiredness and post back with his answer.
