scar tissue and stretching

I am 11 wks post op and went to my gyne because I have tried sex four times and it hurts a lot!!! She examined me and said I have a ridge of scar tissue. She said use manual stretching and vaginal dilators to soften it out for three months!!! Has anyone else been through this and been tolld to do this? Did it work? I work with someone who was told at 3 wks post op to start stretching her vagina manually to avoid this happening-anyone else been told that?

Re: vaginal cuff granulation

That sounds contrary to the instructions for six weeks of "pelvic rest".

Re: scar tissue and stretching

Though I haven't had the problem you are describing, I wanted to drop in and leave you with a couple articles that may help a little. Hopefully a member who has experienced what you are experiencing will share her wisdom.

shortened vagina and dilators

Vaginal stenosis

The stretching treatment your doc suggested may be just the right thing for you. I do hope it works and you get relief.

Re: scar tissue and stretching

I'm sorry you are dealing with that. Dilators are pretty common after certain types of cancer treatment, so there have been several discussions about them in the Cancer Concerns forum. You might want to do a search on here for "dilators" and check some of the threads where brands, use tips, etc, are discussed. The reasons for the scar tissue are different but I think you may find the threads helpful.
