does the belly go away?

I had another quick question, since I am having my hysterectomy for adenomyosis, and my uterus is pretty large. I have the infamous pot belly down there, dieting and exercise do not let it go away, the top of my abdomin ihs toned but then the lower part just sticks out and looks out of place.
The question I have is after the surgery (TAH) will the pot go away? I also don't know it is due to my large uterus or the fact that I have had 2 previous c-sections, and this wil be my 3rd abdominal surgery, I just want it to go AWAY!!! I am so frusterated by my stomach! I have to wear a bigger size in pants because it is so big!

any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated!!

does the belly go away?

Hi HannahinCA,

I had a 'pregnant' belly pre-op and an almost flat belly post-op - if it's the uterus causing the swelling then I hope yours disappears as mine did. Saying that, the consensus on the site is that we suffer afterwards from 'swelly belly', more or less to a certain degree depending on the sister. However, from what I've read it does go away eventually so that you can fit into that favourite pair of jeans...
Hugs and best of luck.

does the belly go away?

I had my surgury March 23. My uterus was very enlarged also, and I saw the same bulge that you do. After surger, I had, and am still having a bout with swelly belly. It isn't ALL that bad. I wear support panties, and no one can tell the difference in my belly size. I do think that when the swelly belly is finally gone, my tummy will be smaller. But to tell you the truth I don't care!
I feel so, so much better now, a bit of a pot belly is certainly worth it.
best of luck to you

does the belly go away?

thanks for the input!! it is definitely appreciated, I am definitely anticipating swelling after the surgery, that I am not worried about, I was just wondering if after the swelling goes down, will my lower stomach look smaller and not feel so bloated all the time?
That is the other problem, I just feel full and bloated all the time, does anyone have the same feeling? and if so after the surgery does all of those unpleasant feelings go away too??

Thanks

me too....

I can totally understand how you guys feel. For the last year I've watched my lower belly grow. But it's not nice and round like a pregnant belly. And I always feel full - and pregnant. I'm really hoping that this will go away after the surgery. I have actually started wearing maternity pants and they're very comfortable. They fit properly everywhere and still fit in the waist. They're a God send for me!
