Disappointed, trip to Castle postponed
Said bye to everybody at the office Friday about 11:15, had a great pre-op appt. with my doc, went to hospital for really smooth pre-admit, including blood work and a chat with the anethes. doc., for TAH/BSO on Tuesday (9th). Left happy as a clam at getting "stuff" done. Didn't last long when I got home. Got call from my doc (late on a Friday!).
Knew I was a little anemic, told doc that early on but didn't seem a problem, but blood test showed that my White blood cells were WAY down (2,000, should be between 4,100/10,900). SO after contacting my primary care physician, my oncologist (had breast cancer surgery in July), and the hematologist, it was decided that I needed to resolve my low numbers of both red and white blood cells before surgery. Have tenatively reset for Jan 16.
Was panic stricken at first, think I'm better, but am now just disappointed. Changes everything. Am wondering if I should just go on back to work after my appt on Tuesday with the blood doc. Guess I'll wait and see. Something else to worry about!
Thanks for letting me vent..think I'll be feeling less shaky soon.
Good luck to all

Disappointed, trip to Castle postponed
Hi Kathy. Sorry for your disappointment but better be healthy for your surgery. I don't know what your financial situation is or how much of a workaholic you are but it is cold and flu season and of course the workplace is ground zero for spreading around the wintertime bugs. You may want to factor that into your decision on heading back to the office.
This is a good place to vent and get it all out. There have been several sisters this month who have had to postpone. Ugh!!
Hugs,
