Thank every star and God that you are here!!!
After 29 years of the periods from hell, the end is near - less than 1 week to surgery. I have been so trapped in the - "OH MY GOD!" and reading all of your posts and all of the wonderful information all of you are sharing has calmed me - OK - just a little.
My date is Nov. 1, 2002 and prior to that wonderful date I'm blessed with the opportunity of colonoscopy and upper GI scope on Tuesday.
Has anyone else had to deal with all of this poking and prodding - pardon the very bad and partially concealed pun.
Should I be worried about two procedures so closely spaced?
Pre-school age Daughter brought a cold into the house so trying to keep that at bay - although everyone else has caught it. Will a runny- semi-stuffy nose cause problems?
Hubby is in denial and in the 'just tell me what needs to be done' mode so I'm getting emotional help from everywhere else - if you know what I mean.... .
Thanks for being here!

Hi Cheryl
Welcome to Hystersisters, I'm glad you found us! Sorry to hear you're having other procedures right before your surgery and I wish you the best on everything.
Because you're new and close to your surgery date please take time to do a lot of reading on this website and educate yourself. Here are some links you might find helpful. The first has a lot of pre-op hints and the second is a FAQ for families. Perhaps it'll be of help to your hubby.

So sorry...
Cheryl
So sorry to hear how much you've got going at once. I did the colonoscopy bit this year, but it was in February and my hyst is November 11. I, too, feel like I've been poked, prodded, jabbed, and photographed from EVERY angle! I've been joking that I should be able to start 2003 with a new warranty after all the work that's been done this year!
Just take it easy and know that you WILL get past these. The colonoscopy turned out to be not too big of a deal, and they were able to find and remove icky polyps, and an infection in the colon, so it seemed worth it in the long run. The "prep" was the worst part, but I bought a dozen Calvin & Hobbes comic books and stocked every bathroom in the house and just planned to live in them for the day. And did!
Just try to get as much rest as you can. And, look on the bright side, at least you're getting it all overwith quickly. Soon you'll be getting your new warranty - just like me!
Emma
