Wanted to introduce myself...
My name is Tracy and I am 33 years old. I am scheduled for a BSO, I believe that is the abbreviation, on June 13th 2008. As the date gets closer I find myself getting more and more nervous.
I have endo and have exhausted all treatments. Also, during an ultrasound, it was discovered I have PCOS, which completely shocked my doctor because I don't have any of the symptoms of that. He feels taking my ovaries along with everything else is the best option for me since they are basically of no use anymore, unfortunately, I agree with him.
I am worried about how the surgery will effect me. I am 115lbs soaking wet and all the anesthesia and pain medication makes me so nervous.
Anyway, I jut wanted to introduce myself, and I am grateful this board exists.

Wanted to introduce myself...
Hello and Welcome Tracy,
Great to have you here. You have found the perfect place to be. This site is amazing, as are the sisters on here who lend their time, knowledge and support.
I don't know if you are able to meet with your anethesiologist before the procedure? If you are, even if its a phone consult, that may relieve some of your apprehension.
Prayers to you for a complete, successful procedure and recovery. Also, for your peace and comfort during your journey.
Take good care. {{{Hugs}}}

Do you know yet whether it will be performed vaginally or abdominally? I am having my surgery June 10th and not sure which way it will be performed. Dr is hoping for vag but not ruling out using the daVinci robot to do it abdominally. I'm lucky in that I get to keep my ovaries unless he finds something when he gets in there.
Good luck with your surgery. You will finds lots of info and support here.

He is going in through my C-Section scar. I wish I could keep my ovaries but I know in the long run it will be more problems. The reality of the surgery is starting to really set in now.

Wanted to introduce myself...
For me cleaning the house, getting some meals in the freezer for the kids, and getting my recovery area ready are the things that are keeping me from freaking out....lol. So far it must be working because I am not really nervous at all but I am very anxious and ready to get on with it. I'm more worried about my bills while I am on medical leave because I am a single parent with no support other than my income.

I understand your worries...Believe me when I say waiting is the hardest part. I had my surgery yesterday. When people on here would tell me that waiting was the worst part, I thought yeah right they don't know me. Believe me, I had myself worked up for nothing. I had thrown-up and everything!!! Yeah I'm a little sore because I did have surgery, but nothing like I was thinking. As far as the anesthesia meds that are given, they are based on weight, so don't worry about your size. As for pain meds, if you feel to groggy (which is actually a blessing) you can always ask for a smaller dose. You will get to see the anesthiologist (sp) right before you go back if not before. They talk with you for awhile and tell you everything they will be doing and answer any questions that you have. They take your health history as well. They are very prepared.
Just try and relax and don't get worked up. Use this time as an excuse to do something you have been wanting to do for yourself and haven't gotten to it. Don't freak out over the house being clean and meals for the next 6 months, it's just something else to make you stressed.
Take care and I'll be thinking about you.
