Upcoming Hysterectomy May 19

I am new to the HsterSisters. I have had my surgery scheduled for 3 months for May 25, but yesterday the doctor called and moved it up to May 19. I was pretty calm about the upcoming surgery until it got moved forward, I am having a total hysterectomy and oophorectomy. My family has a strong history of uterine cancer as well as breast cancer. I have been in menopause since I was 47 and have had ongoing issues with spotting for the past 2 years. My GYN referred me to oncologist GYN after the 3rd episode of spotting, she met with me and we consulted a genetics specialist and all 3 agreed this was the best course of action for me. I am confident in the decision, just nervous about the upcoming surgery and the healing.

It is perfectly natural to be nervous, everything you are feeling is normal. This surgery is meant to improve your overall health and well-being and with it being moved up by a few days, I say, the sooner the better!
Take the next few weeks to prepare your house for your recovery and get a good support system in place to help you for those weeks where you will just be resting and healing. And of course, we'll be here to help you through this journey!

Yes, everything you're experiencing is perfectly normal, although that doesn't make it any easier. It sounds like you've made a very informed decision for what's best for your health long term. Before you know it, you'll be through your surgery and on the other side stronger than ever. You will!

As for the cancer aspect, we do have a Cancer Concerns forum you're very welcome to check out as well, if you'd like. There's lots of great information as well as experienced ladies who'll help however they can.
