Bladder issues not sti 2 weeks post total hysterectomy

I seem to have trouble starting urinating, or i will have to have a bowel movement to get it to start. Wondering is there any home remedies or positions to help with this. I have tried ural and increased fluid intake. Am a regisitered nurse and can use an in/out catheter if desperate. Has anyone else found this? Or found anything that helped?

Has this been going on since your surgery? Have you brought it to the attention of your doctor? I would trust his/her judgment on this.

Yes i did but they ended up giving me oxybutynin tablets that say on the medication info dont take if you have unrinary retention.

I ended up calling nurse on call who said to call my surgeon who i tried calling but doesnt have an answering service. I ended up self cathing myself as im a midwife and used sterile technique with an in out cath.

But now two days later i seem to be in urinary retention again.

Is there any tips you girls have found work?

Ive tried pouring warm water over the area, taking magnesium, drinking tea, using heat packs, changing positions.

What have you girls found worked as i dont want to end up in the e.r with the foly cath as they make my bladder super lazy and high risk of utis.
