LSH going home the same day, get a room?

So the plan is after my LSH I go home the same day if all is well. What I am wondering is since my surgery is in the morning at 9:00 am I will wake up in recovery but then what do they do with me after that? For those of you who have had this done and left the same day did they put you in a room for the rest of the day until you went home that night or late afternoon?

I also had a LSH. I had my hyst at an outpatient facility. Had surgery at 7:30 AM and I was released at 6 PM.

After my LSH, I was put in a recovery area that was curtained off for the different patients. It was like having my own private room..I just had hospital curtains. I had my bed and a private table.

I was resting most of the time in post-op..and it felt pretty cozy..also too..since my nurses were very attentive to my needs. Checked on me regularly.

If you are having a day surgery out patient procedure, what they typically due, is after you have had your stay in recovery, they will move you to another area where there are nurses to monitor and assist you until you feel ready to go home. In my hospital the after care area was the same area that I waited in ready to be taken to surgery.

Sounds like when I had my Lap 5 years ago. I was curtained off from others until I went home. What about when they have you urinate before you can go home. What's that like? The nurse gives you water and then walks you to a bathroom in the area?

Yes..I had to urinate once by myself before I could go home. I had a catheter and they removed it before a nurse helped me to the bathroom. Just take it slow walking to the bathroom...that is my big suggestion. Just remember to tell yourself..."I just had a hyst." I rushed it a little too fast and I felt a little light headed by the time I got to the bathroom.

Otherwise..by the time I got back to my bed..I was fine.

Yes thank you that helps a lot. My biggest fear has been what if I can't go to the bathroom then they have to put the catheter back in. I'll try not to worry about it I'm sure it will be fine.

With my previos surgery, onceI needed to use the bathroom, the nurse actually rolled my bed right to the bathroom door, it was way down the hall. Good thinking on her part I don't think I could have walked that far as I was a bit woozie from the anti nausea meds and I was sore. I had no ambition to even move, but once I was up for that first time I felt better and was able to finally get dressed and go home. I'll be staying several nights for the hyster/ bowel resection, I'm jealous of the girls that are having brief stays.

i had my TVH as "same day surgery" or the "23 hour" stay. went in 7:30am surgery @ 9:45 could have went home that night, and ended up staying the night.
they have a "same day surgery" floor, rooms you wait in pre-op, and go back to the same floor post-op till you leave, overnight or not.

I can say...don't worry about going to the bathroom. I am sure you will do great with your 1st bathroom adventure post-op. And...the catheter was no big deal for me either.

Thank you all for your responses I feel ready for it now that I know more about what to expect. Well time to go to the grocery store. I'm slowly buying things for post op.
