Some of the things I did during my earlier weeks of recovery that has helped me out tremendously

Good day HysterSisters! I pray this post finds all of you well.

I am in my 5th week of recovery today and must say that all is going well. I honestly believe that the anesthesia that was injected at the incision site had a lot to do with 'minimizing' my initial pain. I can honestly say I began to feel searing pain during my second week and it was at this time I began using the pain medication. The first week was uncomfortable because of the incision, but no excruciating pain. Though I feel good, I am making a conscious effort not to overdo it.

Here are some of the things I did during my earlier weeks of recovery that has helped me out tremendously! I hope that it will aid you in your recovery.

1. I walked slowly every chance I could around my home. I was determined to do 10 laps a day from my bed to the living room (10 feet). Remember, slow and steady wins the race!

2. I read the threads and watched the videos on this site to keep me encouraged and track my milestones for recovery.

3. I began meditating and placed the focus on my day to day recovery. I did not think about recovery 2 weeks or 3 months from now, but TODAY!

4. Though I was 'allowed' to drive after the second week, I waited until the 4th week.

5. Though I was able to do light housework after the 3rd week, I waited until the 4th week.

6. I had a stream of visitors and continued to welcome them even though I was sore. I stayed in bed and from the bed is where I received them.

7. Most importantly, I ACCEPTED HELP FROM PEOPLE THAT OFFERED! This is the best advice I can give to anyone going through recovery.

8. Last, take it slow and enjoy the time getting to know YOU!
