Re: anyone lose weight after their surgery?

Ckllr? I noticed you started back exercising 5 wks post op? I also got cleared to start exercise around 3-4 weeks LSH, kept ovaries. I was wondering what your procedure was? I hope that is ok to ask ...

Of course I am not cleared yet for real sex, haha. That, the surgeon made clear, was to wait until 6 wks.

For me, I've been taking long walks (2 miles at almost 4 wks post op) to build up some stamina after a couple of weeks on the sofa. I am elated, there is no pain ... but I am excrutiatingly exhausted from it. Just what I thought. I need to build up stamina (and still listen to my body obviously, and rest when I need to). Yay, today for me is 4 wks. The surgeon told me my internal stitches have already disolved. It was ok to start pilates back up (I was a bit surprised) ... so, just wondering about anybody that got cleared to start exercise before 6 weeks.

That is great about the Pilates Lovers thread! Good for you for thinking that. I will have to check it out. AND I am on a mad lookout for a used and affordable pilates machine!

Re: anyone lose weight after their surgery?

rhncasi419,

I was actually cleared for exercise after 10 days and sex after 4 weeks! This was totally surprising to me. My Dr. just said to listen to my body ie if anything hurt or was uncomfortable to stop doing it. Pretty simple advice. I did find that pilates was VERY difficult up until my 3rd week, but into the 4th I was able to do almost all the moves as before. Apparently I was healing quickly despite my ab incision.

As far as the pilates machine goes the traditional reformers are pricey. I have the Ellen Croft supreme pilates machine which is pretty affordable. I think she has 5 or 6 dvd's that can be used with it and Mari winsor has a few that were made for the machine as well. here's the Ellen Croft website link < >

I know there are other places on the web that it can be purchased (ebay, amazon etc.)

Hope that helps. Let me know if you have further questions!

you're funny Actually, I hoped the same thing. I had a watermelon-size fibroid. Doc said it weighed almost 4 lbs. At my post-op I was told I lost 7lbs.
