So many questions I can't wait till pre-op

I'm scheduled for my pre-op on Thurs next week and not sure what I should ask? What do I need to know. I've read up and heard about bladder slings? and removing the cervix or not and how it can affect organism? How long does the actual surgery take? What is the pain like afterward? I've had my appendix removed is it much worse? My head is spinning with questions!

Re: So many questions I can't wait till pre-op

I'm home after surgery on 12/5. It was scheduled outpatient but complications after it began required overnight stay. I needed that extra rest and support. So know that a contingency plan might be needed.

So many questions I can't wait till pre-op

This website has a great list of questions to ask. I suggest you print itbout and highlight the ones you want yo ask. I took a composition book and pen to.my appointment to write the answers I was given.

Re: So many questions I can't wait till pre-op

I agree with 05knights. There's a list of pre op and post questions in the hysterectomy checkpoints section that will help you when talking to your doctor. Writing things down or taking another person with you may be helpful also
Sometimes this can be overwhelming and we forget the things we wanted to ask until after the appointment and forget some of that which was said during.

Re: So many questions I can't wait till pre-op

Hi there Boise 123, I am an Idaho dweller as well ...I am having the Davinci ( uterus and cervic going for sure, keeping ovaries if they look good) and monarc sling.
I had a ton of questions, and the list kept getting longer, that is when I found this site. It is very helpful. I printed the pre-op checkpoints pages, and highlited all my concerns, discussed them with my doc at the pre-op appointment. Even after having them answered, I still wanted to talk to people having the same stuff done. While no woman is exactly the same with experiences, for the most part everyone worries before the procedure.
Im not sure how your doctors office is, but mine I can call and they are super nice and answer any questions I have. If you haven't had your pre-op yet, then make sure you get a good list of questions/concerns ready to discuss. You will feel a whole lot better after asking. Hugs
