Any 6 Monthers Left???

I am just over five months post op and feeling really good. Went back to work this week and feeling quite tired but still feel good. Not been on the site as much as usual due to me returning to work.

So glad I had the op. Looking forward to going on a holiday sometime this year and not having to worry about dates and whether or not I can wear my shorts. New life begins here.

So glad you're feeling well. Wishing you well for the future.

Any 6 Monthers Left???

Hi, I had TAH/BSO on 1/4/05 and really feeling great. I am very glad I had the surgery as for a few years I knew I would be needing it eventually for endo. hyperplasia. My only problems are night sweats and a little trouble sleeping. I am on HRT which have made the hot flashes a lot more bearable. Good luck to everyone, and thank you all.

Any 6 Monthers Left???

I am 5 months post op and doing great. I had a vaginal hysterectomy and kept my ovaries. I get a few night sweats at certain times of the month, but that is it. S*x is better than ever and I am enjoying the summer without having to worry about the dreaded time of the month. Wearing a bikini is wonderful without worrying about that. Life is good.

Any 6 Monthers Left???

I had a TAH on Jan 18th, 2005. The first three months were rough because of complications from the surgery. In May I finally felt like I turned the corner as I was starting to feel like myself again. Then last month I pulled some internal sutures or tore adhesions packing to move. Since then things inside haven't been quite the same. I now think I have adhesions that are causing a partial bowel obstruction. But I'm not ready to call the doctor yet since I am still able to pass small BMs. After everything I went through I have no interest in seeing any doctors right now. I am enjoying my summer without having to worry about the dreaded period. All in all, I am glad that I had the surgery done.

I have to thank all of my hystersisters for sharing their information about the recovery period. It has helped to get me through the post-op period. I only wish that I had found this site before I had the surgery so I would have known what to expect.

I hope everyone continues to do well with their recovery,
Nancy

Any 6 Monthers Left???

Glad to hear evberyone is doing well. I just hit 6 mo post- op
Physically I recovered pretty quickly. Emotionally I still feel like a yo-yo. I can weeks with feeling like Ifinally turned the corner and have come to acceptance of this, then I may have a day or two of deep depression and crying followed by several days of one minute being fine then the next feeling like my worlds is gonig to end. Somewhere in there is the rational part of my brain gonig "oh, good grief! Here we go again!"

Do you suppose that is a hormonal thing?

I did not voluntarily go in for a hystorectomy etc. I had an ovarian cyst (10cm). MD resopnse was intiailly to wait it out another cycle or two then see where we were (basically monitor it). He drew blood for the CA-125. After receiving the elevated CA-125 he decided to rush me into surgery- two weeks post diagnosis- 1 week post test.
I was a bit dumbstruck as my thinknig was he was thinking it was potentially cancer so I said that I understood that this might require a total hysterectomy and that I could live with that- IF I HAD TO. If at all possible I wanted to preserve the other ovary as I did NOT want to be on HRT if it was avoidable.
I woke up in the recovery room was greeted by a nurse who said. "Oh, your awake. Let me get you your pain meds. By the way, you know they took everything out?" and left! I was in too much pain to really care right then.
UGH. Anyway, I don't think my surgery was totally necessary. We never even discussed other possible treatments for endo (if that's what it proved to be - I did not have any endo symptoms other than the cyst- no heavy bleeding, no pain etc).

So my emotional issues may stem from there. I try to look at the bright side and move on. If not for the total lack of "O" I might not care as much. But I feel cheated and robbed and misinformed.

I have posted to the S. Dys function board also but it is not looking too promising to me, from the "O" standpoint.

The least sign of a hot flash (summer seems to have effected the frequency), or any other "reminder" that I am not "Whole" anymore throws me into a tailspin.

On the up side I have lost about 30lbs with no effort on my part. I rarely have to shave. My complexion has actually improved.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be a downer to all of those who are doing well. But I am starting to feel like the only one who doesn't think this is the best thing that ever happened to me (both IRL and on-line). I know I can't be the only one feeling some of these things so I wanted to open the door for others to come forward and not have to be the first LOL

If you made it this far, thanks for reading :-)

Any 6 Monthers Left???

I just had my 6 month appointment yesterday. At first I thought I would never get better. I had a lot of complications. All of a sudden after about 3 months, I felt like a new person. I have been getting out more, not calling in sick to work lost weight (40 lbs). The only thing is that my stomach looks bigger. That is about the only complaint that I have. Other than that, I don't reget it at all and wish I had done it about 10 years ago. I am not on hormones, but taking black cohosh and increasing the soy in my diet. I have some hot flashes, but they are a lot milder than at first.

Any 6 Monthers Left???

Hello, I had my doctors appt this week and I am still having a few issues with my medications. I was on Zoloft and Cenestin. Having some SD so doctor is changing me to Welbutrin, I have been having headaches as well so I have to go to my PCP next week to see what's up with that. My tummy still feels a bit of sharp twings every now and then, wonder how long that will last? I sure don't miss having a flow every month though, took our first trip away and I didn't have it. Seems like for years it always came when we were off work together, lol.
