Frequent Urination

How many of you have frequent urination. I have a fibroid tumor that may be putting pressure on my bladder. I asked my Dr at Pre op today about it. He asked if I leaked urine when I coughed or sneezed. I don't but I have an urge to urinate quite a bit. If I drink a glass of water, I will have to go to the bathroom maybe three times in a row. Each time I urinate quite a bit. I have been on decaf coffee and drinks for over a year because of the problem. If I travel, I don't drink anything.

Do you think it could be the fibroid? It's a 13 week size. He didn't seem concerned with it and didn't offer any tests. He just said that after my LAVH/BOS he will refer me to an urologist if I continue to have problems.

Any advice?

Frequent Urination

Your post could have been written by me. I had exactly the same problem. Before surgery, I was getting up at night every hour or once in awhile I'd make it 1 1/2 hours. Now I'm going from 2 1/2 to 5 hours without having to get up and pee. I also don't have to find the restroom the second I get to a store. This surgery certainly worked for me. Did your Dr. say that the ultrasound showed the fibroid was pressing on your bladder.

Frequent Urination

I have a fibroid and an enlarged uterus both pushing on my bladder. I do leak urine when I cough and sneeze and had urodynamics testing and it determined that I have a problem with the tube leading from my bladder. It will be repaired with a bladder sling when I have surgery. Some days it isn't so bad, other days it feels like I am going all the time. Sometimes I go what seems like a gallon, then other times it's just a trickle, but I felt like I really had to go. I will be glad to be rid of these problems as well.
Take care

can definitly relate. I have to cross my legs if I cough or sneeze and aerobics and running are definitly out. When shopping I frequent all their restrooms. I have a "large orange" on the top/front of my uterus. I can't imagine peeing normally again!

Suzie Seadoo:

I have the same problem. I asked my DR and she said she thinks its the fibroids and endo. Went to the urologist and he said I have a ever so slighly prolapse but nothing to really speak about. He said it sounds like over active bladder. My surgery is today and my GYN thinks that it will all be better when everything is out.

Had the same thing, didn't matter to much to me cause I always had pads on, but surgeon brought it up and then on pre-op appoint did a test to determine if we should definitely do the sling. It was done, no more leaks or frequent urges.
I don't understand why your gyn is not willing to do this, why have two surgeries? You should call and ask him.

The reason for the bladder prob is the same as the heavy bleeding...the fibroids stretch everything out which gives more uterine wall for blood build up and also pushes bladder out of shape, hopefully the problem will go away with surg and you won't need the sling done later.
good luck

Susie,

I'd check with a urologist BEFORE surgery. If there is a problem that needs a urologist, they can often schedule at the same time as the GYN. Why take a chance on 2 surgeries if it can all be done at the same time? Just my thoughts...

Since my hyster, I can sleep through the night and go up to 6 hours without making potty stops when out and about!!

Good luck to you!
