Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 01-Aug 07,2011

If your hysterectomy was between Aug 01-Aug 07,2011 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 01-Aug 07,2011

I wanted to share an update. I had a TAH this morning at 7:30 am. Surgery took about 2 hours. I then spent 3 hours in recovery because they could NOT get my pain under control. I was then moved into my room and put on a pain pump with Dilaudid. Still having a lot of pain. Also getting Zofran for nausea and Benadryl for itching from the narcotics. Today has been rough. I am very tired and in a lot more pain than I imagined I would be. I am going to get out of bed for the first time at 10:30. My nurse wants me to go to the restroom and then walk the hall. I am nervous. Praying I feel a lot better tomorrow.

Where are all my ladies at??? I have been praying for you all! I wanted to share that I am doing A LOT better today. They took my catheter out this morning and I have been up to pee and walk several times. I have been passing gas and eating, but still no BM. I am a little worried about that. I am off of the pain pump. I am taking percocet and IV toradol. It is honestly working better than the dilaudid was. I am still VERY sore when I stand up... but feel pretty good with the way things are going. I am hoping to go home tomorrow, but I think I have to stay until after the first BM. Ulgh. I hope all of you Aug 1st and 2nd ladies are all doing well!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 01-Aug 07,2011

I had my surgery at 9:30 am yesterday (Monday, Aug 1). I woke up in recovery around 1:00 pm and was rolled to a room. I was able to have chicken noodle soup and drink some water. I was also able to walk as much as I wanted. I felt better to walking. I was able to urinate, which I find a little hard and they sent me home at 7:00 pm. I am sore and take vicodine and ibuprofen.

I am glad to hear you both are home and doing well! I had a TAH so I am still in the hospital. I am hoping to go home tomorrow. I am still in a lot of pain when I stand up... but I am trying to walk more and hopefully that will help.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 01-Aug 07,2011

My surgery was Monday morning (Aug 1). This is the first time I'm able to be at the computer for even a moment. I am in so much pain. My surgery took over 4 hours - because I had a fair amount of reconstruction done after the TVH. My legs are numb, still. I was in recovery for about 2.5 hours. I was not able to get out of bed at all that first day due to intense pain which the pump meds could not control. They sent me home yesterday afternoon, on percoset and a catheter, as I cannot pee. I am miserable. I hope some of this lets up soon. I'm using ice packs to help with the swelling. And I might attempt a shower this morning if I can stand up long enough to get a quick scrub. Okay - time's up - heading back to bed. Ugh. I hope you ladies are all doing better than I am right now!!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Aug 01-Aug 07,2011

Hi sisters! I had my LSH yesterday (8/2/11) at 7:30a and was in the recovery room for awhile due to low blood pressure then to my room by noon. I had a morphine pain pump but the were also giving me Toradol for pain through the IV so I only needed a couple presses of the morphine. The pain has been very tolerable. I have 4 incisions plus 1 in the belly button. I was up walking at 7pm last night and had broth and jello for dinner. I got the catheter out this morning, breakfast (real food!!). My doctor came by and said everything went well, and that my uterus was very dysfunctional and that I was going to be so happy now. she wrote me prescriptions for Norco and ibuprofen.
They just took out my IV and I'm just waiting to get lunch and go potty again and I'll be discharged about 12:30.
All in all I am very surprised how well I feel. I wish all of my sisters a fast recovery
