4 weeks post op

Its encouraging to see so many ladies recovering well.
I had a vaginal hysterectomy ovaries were left. I have had no bleeding at all, other than spotting at 2weeks post op thats it. I too have been experiencing pains in my right side. I do potter around I do not stretch or do anything I shouldnt although I have been taking slow works no more than 10 minutes a day which doesnt get me very far but i feel better for the fresh air. My energy levels are still very low I feel exhausted around mid day and take a nap. Im listening to my body and not over doing it at all.
I have been in agony for a week with this pain and just thought it was internal stitches knitting together after all major surgery isnt suppoosed to be comfortable. I have been to the doctors yesterday. I actually have an infection. I really cant understand how. Ive been given 2 lots of antibiotics to take for a week then see how i go. This has really put me back on the road to recovery. The dr told me to continue with my little walks as this will help circulation and also the awful wind still gurggling around even though Im drinking peppermint tea & anything peppermint that I can get my hands on.
I dont go back to my gyne until 15th october for my 6 week check.
I just feel I was doing so well and now im setback again. Its really frustrating.
Has anyone else had the same

It sounds like you are really having a tough time. They say this all works like 2 steps forward, 3 steps back. I am just about a week ahead of you as I had my surgery Aug 26, and last week I thought this was never going to end. This week I feel much better! It actually surprised me. So hang in there and be good to yourself. Your body has been through a lot and things are shifting and rearranging.

Hi. I'm sorry I am no help. Day 7 here post op STAH. But your question caught my eye. I've had many ladies tell me similar stories and I'm trying not to fear an infection but also wonder why it happens when everything "seems" to be healing ok?? Thanks for asking this question. I will keep an eye on this thread. Did they say what caused it?

I am wondering about the peppermint you mention? Someone told me to buy peppermint tea and I did but haven't started drinking it yet. What does it do and how is it helping you? Maybe not the right place to ask and I don't want to derail your question but I am curious about the peppermint.

I wish you a wonderful recovery and hope the infection clears up quickly.

I had my TAH BSO 9/3 and I am now on my third different antibiotic for a UTI. I feel the same as you as to these setbacks; I do find I get tired easier and I take a nap. You're right listen to your body! My 6 week check up is 10/13, but I have been going every two weeks since starting Premarin and have been going to my GP since the infection started. Hang in there and remember you are not alone.
Keep us posted
Best Wishes

Hi Toni Ann

The peppermint helps get rid of wind it is very effective. It somehow breaks up the gurggling that goes on on your stomach. It doesnt really do much for the swelly belly. But it eases the discomfort the wind creates.
The peppermint is awful but it has helped me this was recommended to me by my Doctor and also surgeon.
Hope this helps you huni

Hi Magpie 1970,
I am still very tired also and I find that it just takes over me and I have to lie down. I am still not doing much, just walking around the house and over the weekend I walked the supermarket with DH. I came home and crashed. I don't know about you, but I think people see you walking around and they may think you are back to "normal;" and you are so right it is still early yet. Just my opinion, but I think when you get any kind of infection it just slows the whole healing process down. I feel like I lost a few weeks and not to mention all the testing you have to go through. Just more added STRESS to the body. I have not even gone back to work yet, which look like the beginning of Nov. Thank you sooooo much for your shoulder and I wish you the best.

Everyone needs to listen to their own Dr's instructions but mine told me that the only way to get my stamina back and to help heal is to walk!

Even in the hospital, I was taking 2-3 10 minute walks per day. I am almost 4 weeks post op from my TAH and am now walking 30-45 minutes per day either on my treadmill or outside if the weather is good. Now I am walking VERY slowly but I am doing it. I have been doing this since my 2 week check up. My Dr told me that if I just lie around all day it would take way more time to heal. Maybe you are not excersing enough and that is why you are so tired and have to take naps?

I would check with your Dr and see what you should be doing as far a walking. It sounds like you are not doing enough!

Good luck.
