Weird bladder post op?
I am 2 days post op and feeling pretty good. There is one strange thing that I am not to sure about. I have no feeling in my bladder. I have no urge to pee so I have been going every couple of hours and its not painful but I can't feel anything, so don't know when I need to go?

Weird bladder post op?
what type of hyster did you have? Did you have any bladder work done at the same time?
You are only 3 days after your op, I'd be mentioning something to your doc about that, it doesn't sound 'normal' to me.....
But going to the toilet every 2 hours is a good idea, this way your bladder is less likely to get over distended and back up urine into your kidneys.
How are you managing over night?

Weird bladder post op?
I believe this is quite common... The bladder has been disturbed during surgery, plus the fact that you are probably on some pain medication..
Continue what you are doing... voiding every so often just to keep the bladder empty... If you develop a fever, please do not hesitate to call your doctor or go to the emergency room.

Weird bladder post op?
Hi,
My bladder felt 'weird' for about a week post op. I wouldn't feel the urge until it was painful. Sounds like you caught on quicker than I did.
I agree with the other posts. Watch for fever, and jot down your question for when you see the doctor.

Weird bladder post op?
Hi, I have that lack of feeling too, I still have it now all this time on. I had a huge cyst removed that was squashing everything so don't know if that is anything to do with it but for sure before the op. I was peeing nearly all time and certainly felt the urge to go! I have no other problems however with regards to leaking or anything else, have had no complications after the hyst. whatsoever so I have been very lucky. I do get more sensation now if my bladder is getting full but nothing like before and then go and empty myself out! I have not had a UTI (which I had a few years back a couple of times so know the feeling)and had no bladder work done during the op.I did however have loads of bowel adhesions dealt with which took an extra hour from an earlier appendix op. The bottom line I guess is that I don't have a clue why we are experiencing this but it doesn't give me any problems other than the fact that I find it rather strange!! Best wishes to you and to our bladders!!!

Weird bladder post op?
Many thanks for all the replies, and I agree, unless I end up with fever or pain, I am going to just monitor. I actually feel great and am moving pretty well.
To answer the question, what kind of hyster did I have. LAVH, and kept both ovaries. I was checking out the little incisions this morning. My abdomen looks like someone beat me with a bat, but there is almost no pain.

Weird bladder post op?
Hey Tori - I didn't have "the urge" for a couple of weeks. I knew my bladder was full when I began to feel an uncomfortable pressure down below. I just got up an "went" several times a day before the pressure would get too uncomfortable. I even mistook "cramping" for a full bladder a number of times, too, because peeing relieved the cramping. Everything is normal now. Unless you are having pain with urination and a fever, it's probably not a UTI.
