Pain-free laughing, coughing, sneezing, when?

On average, approximately when can one expect to be able to laugh, cough, and sneeze pain-free? Gees, I'm go sick of it. I was watching Jay Leno "headlines" last night, some of those are so funny. Last night shed a new light on the term "busting a gut".

Re: Pain-free laughing, coughing, sneezing, when?

It wasn't until this surgery (TAH BSO debulking) that I realized how much we use our lower abdominal muscles. I had to beg people to stop making funny comments around me!!!

Coughing, sneezing and laughing became easier after reaching week 4 Still felt some pulling but with minimal pain.

Hope u r feeling better soon!

Re: Pain-free laughing, coughing, sneezing, when?

I had a TAH and I'm 4 weeks post-op and I'm now able to have me some full belly laughs, and sneeze. There is some slight pain but nothing like it was before. I missed laughing

Re: Pain-free laughing, coughing, sneezing, when?

I'm 4 weeks today, and can laugh and cough, even sneeze without mind numbing shooting pain, i have been able to for a couple of days now, but it's still "discomfort".

Coughing i controlled the pain by squatting (but it's my understanding many women aren't able to to) so raising knees to chest . I found that worked far better than a pillow , it was supporting my lower abdomen, resting my belly in my lap i guess lol, made coughing a breeze.

Sneezing, well I'm still waiting for someone to fix the holes in my roof but yes t hat pain died down int he last week too lol

Laughing has also died down int he last week too. (pain that is, unfortunately i have many comedians as friends....two who have been through similar proceedures, they're game was to see who could make me laugh the most......is it any wonder i love them

the funny thing about week 4 is you still have to be careful, while things become easier, it makes it easier to over do it without realising it.

I was side sleeping on my first night, last night i was trying to sleep thinking "how the hell did i manage that" i would toss in my sleep and move the wrong way......you don't wanna know the words uttered.....

6 to 8 weeks. I had my surgery on Feb. 14 and I still have some discomfort every once in awhile (if I've really overdone it).

Re: Pain-free laughing, coughing, sneezing, when?

I had a tah with a hernia repair and it was about 5 Weeks before I was completely pain free when I laughed, sneezed or coughed. Before then if I did any of that I was in pain for about 20 min because it produced a endless circle of giggles in the house because of the stuff I would yell out and the faces I would make. Sneezes were the worst!
