vaginal hysterectomy and bruising

I had a vaginal hysterectomy may 10 2012 and I looked but did not see anything on how long does the bruising last in and around the vaginal area?

Re: vaginal hysterectomy and bruising

Hey Hun
I had a vaginal Hyster on April 23rd (22 days ago). My bruising lasted a little over a week. I was able to sit down comfortably after about day 9. I did have my post op with my doc yesterday (he wanted one at 2 weeks but he was booked out) and today i have felt sore again and im finding it difficult to sit again. Don't want to scare you, just telling you about my experiences. Hope you feel better soon

Re: vaginal hysterectomy and bruising

It does not scare me, I have read it can take up to a year to really heal up and that is if you are careful, this is where i know i am going to run into problems lol, i am clumbsy and forgetful. The pain part i do not care for seeing as i already have things wrong that causes pain and i dont need more but at least i know eventually this pain specifically will go away. Do you think it was something you overdid that made it hurt again... too much walking , accidentally picking or pushing something heavy, over doing it in general? this is what my problem is going to be.

Re: vaginal hysterectomy and bruising

Im not 100% sure to be honest.
I have 2 little ones and i have been picking up the baby, but im trying not too if possible, but hubby has gone back to work so I dont really have a choice.
But I also had some pain when my doc did his internal check up yesterday, so it could be from either.

Re: vaginal hysterectomy and bruising

any way you can rearrange nap times and bed and wake times so that they are mostly awake when he is home?and alternate your friends and family to help when he is not there? maybe do some playdates with iou's or coupons for when you are doing better? also take extra vitamins such as multivitamins, vita c, vita b-12 and vita d, lots of water. and lots of floor play time with pillows and blankies and even the couch cushions . quick meals , paper plates and make games out of clean up time ( i started mine from the time they could crawl lol) this will all be rather temporary and since they are not in school there should be no "gotta be up in morning at a certain time or certain bed time" I home schooled for 4 years (elementary and jr high) hubby worked 3rd so i scheduled us around his hours. inlaws did not like it but oh well it was our life .

Re: vaginal hysterectomy and bruising

I had the benefit of My mother in law being here for the first 2 weeks which was fantastic.
I only have put the baby to nap once a day now so that's not too bad. And my 3yr old can put him self in bed. And I too make a 'game' out of cleaning with him lol.
All of my family and friends work the same hours as my hubby so i'm by myself all day. I'm the only one out of our friends that has kids.
My doc did give me the ok to lift bub, just to take it easy

well i suppose the worst is over just make sure you are careful, you dont want to hurt yourself and go backward some steps. Im glad my youngest is 18 and graduating this year, i dont think i could do what you are doing, stay strong and know you are incredible!
