Do I have Endometriosis?

Hi,
I had an endometrial biopsy today and I am wondering if that means I have endometriosis? I had the endo done due to periods every 2 weeks, and a uterus 4 times the normal size and fibroids. I will not have any results until next week but now I am wondering if I have endometriosis. I am confused. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Diane

Do I have Endometriosis?

((((Diane))))))),

The uteran lining that sheds during a normal period is the endometrium.
That is what the biopsy was testing for abnormalities.

Endometreosis is when that lining* backs up* through the tubes instead of out the cervix and vagina. When it backsup it gets into the pelvic cavity and causes all kinds of havok. It usually causes pain, cramps, constipation, diarreah, adhering to organs, "gluing "organs together. in any combo of theses things plus other problems too. Infertility being one. Basically a big ,pelvic, painful mess.

Hope this helped some.

Do I have Endometriosis?

Hi Dianne

An endometrial biopsy is generally done because of abnormal bleeding cycles (like you stated you've been having), and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with endometriosis (altho the two words are so similar) The sample taken from the lining of your uterus will be evaluated so your doctor can get a better idea as to what may be causing your every two week bleeding.

I hope this helps.
