Back to work 7 weeks post op
Just wanted to let my sisters know that I have gone back to work and I survived! I went back to work this past Monday and worked a half day, yesterday I worked 7 hours and today was my 8 hour day.
I only have the following complaints:
My belly seems to swell as the day wears on which means by the end of the day it doesn't look very pretty
I have had only one stupid comment from a co worker-she asked me
"so did they get it ALL out" ( I looked at her like she must be crazy) and just softly said "yes" She proceeded with
"you were gone so long, was it really that difficult of a surgery?" I must have given her the look of death while I counted to 10 and said "yes, it was a diffucult surgery"
of course I really wanted to jump up out of my chair (as if I really could!) and smack her. I tried to wish her away from that point on, which didn't work, but at least I kept my dignity (and didn't get fired for battery!!!)
Just thought I would share with you all!!!
Hope everyone is doing better each day!

Good for you, I think that showing restraint makes you a strong person.
I know that sometimes it's difficult, but truly believe that people sometimes just don't realize how insensitive they sound.
I hear what you're saying about your tummy by the end of the day. I was like that too. But, hang it there - it usually does get better with time.

Congratutations on going back to work, thats so awesome!! People can be really insensitive without really knowing it, so you handled that really well. I don't quite understand why our belly's swell up by the end of the day, but I notice it happens to me, too, after the end of my day. Hopefully it will get better as time passes!

I go back to work Monday and I'm so scared! I got along great with everyone and we have a HUGE company. I also talk to alot of vendors so I am so scared of people being insensitive like that lady. I wish people would just smile and say Welcome Back and leave the rest alone!

For the most part everyone at my work has been great, it was just that woman who happened to not have any class...grrr.....!!!
Just start out slowly if you can and work maybe a half day? I have found this to be the best way for me. I will keep my fingers crossed that you don't have to deal with any insensitive people!

I went back part time for the first week, and that proved to be a good idea. Now I'm back full time and feeling good, except for the belly. Mine actually starts out a little swollen in the morning and then gets worse as the day progresses. It's hot here, and that seems to make me swell even more.

Did they get it all out? What kind of stupid comment is that? Kudos to you for restraining yourself and not punching her lights out.
I am at the almost 2 week mark and still have a swelly belly and some pain (that I manage with ibuprophen) and want to get back to work soon. So let me know how you're manaing.

hlnwheels-
I must say I was proud of myself for not loosing my cool! I knew I was going to encounter someone saying an insensitive remark, but I guess you always hope for the best. There was a co worker who was pregnant and left on maternity leave right before I came back to work and yesterday I was greeted by yet another co worker who asked how I was doing, how I was feeling and suddenly her voice gets very sad and she says
"did you hear that so and so had to have a c-section?" I wanted to scream at her I JUST HAD A HYSTERECTOMY, I don't have children and I will never be able to have children so forgive me if I don't give a %^%$# about my co worker having a c section....of course I didn't say anything to her, I just walked away.
Is God testing me or what? why do they people act as if they don't have brains????? ok, enough of that!!!
Went to the dr today for my last post op and she said I am doing great!!! I have lost weight (still have more to go!) said I can resume having sex, but I am scared to death to even try...poor hubby!!! She said my swelly belly should start to go down in 3 months!? Yikes!!!
I still have twinges in belly, but no real pain to speak of, thank goodness!
It's nice to be able to come here and get support, it makes me feel alot better!

Back to work 7 weeks post op
I had my last post op today. I can't go back to work until after the 4th or have sex yet for another 2 weeks. Since when she did my exam it was a little tender, but everything is healing great. I am looking forward in going back to work, but at the same time I am enjoying my time off, and also worried what people are going to say when I do return. I see some of them now since I have to shop where I work at walmart. Some of them know but been really nice about it. But I only told like 2 or 3 people and it seem like more knew about it. Like man news travels fast. Its like I didnt really want people to know but some how they know. So it will feel awkward at first going back.
