vaginal cuff stitches

I am almost 3 weeks post op and today i went to the restroom an after wiping i noticed something like a black string i think it may be one of my vaginal stitches but i thought those disolved really concerned have put a call into the dr waiting to hear back i just didnt know the stitches looked like that it looks like black thick thread crazy

I read that you can pass stitches. Just not sure when. Glad you called doc!

It is normal to pass some stitches especially at the 3 to 5 week mark. Not everyone passes them, but it is pretty common.

Keep an eye out for increased bleeding in the days to come. If you are passing stitches or they are dissolving, it can cause an increase in bleeding/spotting. A little blood is normal, but if you start to bleed heavily (like a period) call your immediately.

Like I said, I'm sure it is completely normal, but now that you are aware that they are coming out, make sure you take it easy and keep an eye on your bleeding. As always though, if you are concerned something is abnormal, don't be afraid to give your doctor a call. That is what they are there for and it could put your mind at ease.
