Vaginal Bleeding 8 Months Post-Op

I'm bleeding from my vagina and it's been eight months since my hysterectomy. I was able to keep my ovaries but everything else, including the cervix, was taken via lap/vaginal assist hysterectomy.
Should I be worried? It's the Saturday, before Easter, so I don't know if I should call my GYN or go to the ER.
Any advice and/or info is much appreciated.

My motto is it's better to be safe than sorry. I don't know the answer to your question but does your doctor's office have a doctor that is on call, after hours? It might be worth a phone call there. I know they say the rule of thumb is if you are bleeding through a pad an hour, then go to the ER. But I don't know if that still pertains at 8 months, but it makes sense. Good luck and keep us informed.

Re: Vaginal Bleeding 8 Months Post-Op

How much are you bleeding? Are you spotting, bleeding moderately, or bleeding heavily? I can understand calling your doctor's office to see if they have someone on call to check with. Or if this is something that is really going to worry you, then go to the ER. It's not worth your worrying so much, Biscuit. I feel really bad for you - I hope that this is just a fluke and that it clears up for you with the least amount of trouble on your part. Good luck - and please do let us know what happens, okay?

Re: Vaginal Bleeding 8 Months Post-Op

I agree with the previous posts. If you are bleeding heavily, then go to the ER. If you're just spotting, then I'd definitely put a call in to your doctor. Eight months post-op you shouldn't be bleeding. Or could it be coming from your bladder?

Best wishes and big

Re: Vaginal Bleeding 8 Months Post-Op

I've been spotting heavily almost a moderate flow. I think I'll call the doctor today though. I was going to watch it till Monday but I think he should at least know about it. Then I'll know whether or not to go to the hospital.
Thanks, for all the input, sisters!

I would definitely call your doc. You shouldn't have that heavy a bleeding. Hopefully everything is ok but better to call your doc. Sending hugs.

Re: Vaginal Bleeding 8 Months Post-Op

I called my doctor and he wants me to watch it. He and I talked about what I've done lately and I had a bad fall on Friday (fell over my 75lb dog while cooking!). So, he thinks that I could have stretched something and it may be ok. We'll see tomorrow I guess.

I can relate totally. I also have a dog and when I was recovering managed to trip over him. I just pulled some muscles pretty severely but boy did I hurt for days after.
