discharge
First let me apologize for the content of the message as it may sound gross but I KNOW I can rely on my sisters for some feedback. I read everything about the possible spotting, bleeding that can occur post op- I however am 3 wks post surgery tommorrow and have had nothing. not a drop of blood , no problems of any sort with anything coming out when I urinate . Yesterday however when I went to the bathroom just to urinate I saw a brown discharge on my undies . It is almost the texture of what a yeast infection would be like - none this morn... I am freaking out worried it is an infection or that something else is wrong.
Normal? not? should I call doc?

I think this is normal. I am experience the same thing. There was a thread about discharges the other day and a lot of people have this for a while after the surgery. To be at peace of mind, you could call the doct and see what the advise about it though.

what do the stitch threads look like. I noticed a black thing but it really looked like a pubic hair not a suture..... I may still call doc just for peace of mind- I was scared - I thought or great I did something wrong. yesterday was my first day feeling norm and I DECIDED to cook real dinner. bad idea - even though I wasn't on my feet long I was sore, tired and had severe back ache after- then this discharge and I thought oh no >>>>> I did something
thanks - I always get such reassurance from all you sisters- I truly feel so good when I read on this website

discharge
I have an abdominal incision and did not have external staples, rather glue & steri strips. When I asked my doctor about my protruding stitch he explaned that (in my case) it was supposed to be there. There is a zig-zag sticth just under the surface (keeping everything together) and it's knotted at one end -- the tail is what is sticking out. It will eventually dissolve and fall off. I had never noticed it until late into the second week when my steri strips came off.

The discharge is part of the healing process. My doctor told me this is normal. I am 6 1/2 weeks post op. The discharge came around the 2nd week and lasted a few weeks. At some moments it has a really funny smell, like awful, but that went away by the fifth week. I didn't have to take or do anything for it. Check with your doctor. good luck! xo
