How long?

When did your HRT start working for you? I had my TAH/BSO 3 weeks ago. I started HRT day before yesterday.

Now maybe I'm being silly, but I just want to know when this is going to stop?!?!? I get hot flashes followed by cold flashes, then it repeats... It wouldn't be so bad if it were only the hot flashes (Michigan winter) but the cold flashes are really made worse by the sweat from the hot flashes... I'm either fanning myself or I'm huddled in a ball, shivering, trying to get warm...

I've nw taken my 3rd dose of Premarin .625 and I know that it's not going to work overnight.... I'd just like to know when it started working for someone else?

Thanks in advance... Stay Strong and Heal Well!!!!

How long?

well I was browsing, but getting ready for bed and saw your post. I didn't take anything for about two weeks after surgery. Then felt out of sorts and dr. put me on Premarin .45. Took that for a week and after calling my pharmacist and finding out that this was the lowest dose and most women take lots more, I experimented and took TWO a day for a while and felt better and then asked for the higher dose of .90 which I have taken for a couple of weeks and had some nausea and decided to skip a day and see if the nausea would go away and see if it was the Premarin or my acid reflux symptoms returning. Still don't know, but my advice to you is call your doctor and see if a higher dose would be good for you or call your pharmacist and see if doubling your dose would be too much so you could see if MORE made you feel better. P.S. Thanks for the info about the stitches...I had never heard they could dissolve with out a lot of stinky discharge. However, I bled a tiny bit of bright red blood for 4 wks and thought something was wrong, but then it was slightly yellow colored, now nearly nothing. Take care. BT

TVH 1/12/05 and a bunch of other stuff..too tired to type...going to bed.

How long?

My doctor put me on the patch at the pre op (evening before). She told me we'd know in 10 days if it was too strong or not strong enough. Within 7 days I was having a few symtoms so she increased my patch to the next level.

I was also told that our natural hormone surplus stays in our body up to two weeks. Sounds like you ran out of your home made stuff and recently got the replacement. So, you've been running on empty and your thermostat is all messed up!!

Hopefully, the HRT will kick in and everything will level out for you soon....if not, call the doc!
Good luck, Maralyn

How long?

My gyn was going to start me on the HRT in the recovery room, but then decided to wait for the pathology to come back. The pathology came back and my gyn was on vacation... LOL

I actually started having hot flushes about 5 days out... I has night sweats starting the 2nd night post-op. That wasn't so bad. The hot/cold/hot/cold thing started up last week and UGH!!! I was so glad to see my gyn on Wednesday, I could've kissed him!!!

He just didn't give me a time frame... He did say that it was adjustable, though.

Thanks so much!!!
