Breast tenderness

I am four weeks post-op TAH (kept ovaries) and was wondering if anyone else has had extreme breast tenderness. Wow, I can hardly shower without having the water hurt when it hits. I'm thinking it's becaue I kept my ovaries and they are working overtime thinking what has happened in there? Anyone in the same boat?

Breast tenderness

I had some breast tenderness, but it didn't last too long in my case. Sometimes your ovaries can get a little wacky right after surgery. You might want to give the doctor a call and see what they think. Being that uncomfortable isn't any fun at all.
Let us know what you find out.
Take care!

Take is Easy!

I had breast tenderness also. I kept my ovaries and the doctor said it was hormonal with me. In weeks 5 and 6 it kept getting better every day. I am at 8 weeks now and the tenderness is not longer there and swelling has gone down. Hang in there, it all gets better. I felt like I was never going to feel normal again but now I feel great. You will get there. Have a great day and take it easy.

Breast tenderness

HI,
I had a tah on 2/9/05 and started with tender, swollen breasts (very tender) about 5 days afterward. I was able to keep one ovary. Dr. told me it may be the single ovary working "overtime" trying to compensate for the loss of the other one. He said,"some people say increased calcium can help, around 12oo mg. You can try that if you like." Well I started on the 1200 mg of calcium and it seems to have helped a great deal ( or my ovary just settled down at about the same time.)

Anyway, you are not alone. And for me it is much better at about 5 weeks post op.

Best of luck!

Blessings,
Beth

Breast tenderness

Hi - I will be three weeks tomorrow (TAH). THis questions has been tormenting since beofre the surgery! I went in with my usual perpetually swollen and painful breasts - they were as sensitive as what you are describing every day of every month!

A week post -op and the tenderness is not completely gone but about 80% gone! So far, it has not returned and I have not had any "ovarian shock" symptoms (of temporary menopause).

Can I expect this to continue? If it gets bad again, will it go away? So, I am really asking the same question as you -
and can I expect swelling at 5-6 weeks? Thanks.
