Post - Op 4 months - still boated/hurt

I had a LAVH - oophorectomy (kept my left ovary) in mid April. I had an additional surgery to remove granulation tissues 3 weeks ago. Plus, the dr went in via laproscrope to make sure everything else looked good. I have felt pretty good for two weeks, but I am bloated again. Does the bloating come and go for up to a year? Plus, sometimes my left ovary hurts or right side hurts, where my ovary use to be. Any feedback would be appreciated.

i'm a couple a weeks ahead of you but today is a bad day for me....no energy(very busy day yesterday) and having pain where the uterus used to be. the pants that fit yesterday may not fit tomorrow...i think all this is a process that just takes more time than we realise. i actually feel like i have cramps today. i had both ovaries removed and am still having some pain every now and again. you are not alone.

Your story sounds like me!

I had LAVH April 20, 2007 and kept my left ovary. Everyday is a new and almost never exciting adventure. I still don't know what to expect from day to day. My weight goes up and down by 5 lbs from day to day! I wish someone had told me about this stuff before just so I could have mentally preped for it.

I am sore after lifting anything (including my 9 month old); so I am sore all of the time. I feel weird saying my vagina hurts but it does. Are you having any pain with intercourse. I am and don't want a whole lot to do with it at this point.

I am also so exhausted some days that I can't make it up a full flight of steps without stopping. That is not usual for me. I could run the steps and chase my 3 year old before all this.

Hugs to you! Keep in touch. Maybe we can get through this together since our scenarios are similar.

Kubby,
Sounds like we are in the same boat. I had no idea that I would be like this either. Yes, sex does hurt. I will feel fine for days, then extremely bloated for 4 to 5 days. I was that way for the last two days. So last night I put ice packs on my stomach for an hour and half. I feel a little better this morning.

Have you been to the doctor to let him know that sex is painful. Prior to my last surgery, sex was very painful and I would bleed a little. Found out it was from the granulation tissues that I had. Had surgery 3 weeks ago to remove that tissue and I don't bleed after sex now. Plus my dr stretched out my vag cuff, to see if that would help.

Sex does hurt, but not as bad. I think it's going to take time to stretch it back out.

I too, get sore doing anything heavy and get extremely tired by the afternoon. Then there are a few days I am o.k. Plus, I sometimes have shooting pains either on my right or left side.

I am trying to hang in there. I go to my dr tomorrow for a follow-up I am going to let him know that I am still getting bloated, plus I am requesting a hormone test (I have been losing my hair since my hysterectomy) to see if one of them is too low.

It's odd that everyone handles or has different side effects from a hysterectomy. I wished I would have known that I could be dealing with this for up to a year!

I'm relieved to know that other people are in the same place. I was so bloated and sore last week for 4 or 5 days too! I had felt great for days and then probably did a little too much and spent days 'recovering' again. I was going to ask my dr at my appt today, but they had to reschedule. Has anyone else asked their dr yet about swelly belly at 4 months?

Add me to that list. Had my TAH on Mar. 20th. I still get swelly belly-had one last night. I generally get them after teaching a hardcore cycling class or going longer distances (30+) on an outdoor ride. They usually go away after a good night's sleep and sometimes I ice if I'm swollen enough that my scar aches. I found that taking a yoga/pilates/taichai combo class called BodyFlow really helps. I try and take that 2 times a week. I did end up gaining some weight that seems to be impossible to take off.

Thanks for the information. I would like to start exercising again, but I am afraid, because of the swelly belly. I keep thinking that if I exercise, I am making things worse. I would like to start the treadmill, but I am afraid. The only thing I do right now is some mild arm exercises and just started the tummy exercises that this website provided.

I have gained a few pounds too. My weight can fluncuate 3 to 5 pounds. I hate that. I can gain 3 pound in one day!

Again, thanks for the information. It's nice to not be alone.

Dawnraymond-did your doctor clear you for exercise? I was cleared very early (I teach cycling) and it really does help. Yeah I do get swollen like I said but all that circulation does help remove extra fluid from the site. Good luck

My dr cleared me to exercise after my 6 week check-up, but I was still having so many issues. That is when they found the granulation (scar) tissues and I had them removed 3 weeks ago. I am afraid to start exercising because it may re-create more scar tissue. The scar tissues were very painful for me. Dr says they were like forks hanging down.

When I go tomorrow to the Dr, I will see what he says. I am axious to get back in shape. Thank you for your input.
