TLH Gas pains, pelvic/rectal pressure post op 12 days

I had a TVH - with ovaries left in tact. I think the most painful part of this ordeal has been the GAS pains I have experienced! Because of the pain meds, I have been constipated and that only adds to the discomfort. I read here to try Milk of Magnesia and it worked like a charm. Keeping my bowels moving has really helped the pain.

RE: the pelvic pressure - I have decided that the stories I heard PRE OP about women going to yard sales 2 days after surgery and feeling like they didn't have a procedure at all - are an anomaly - and they should go down in history. Being a single mom and having endured many, many years of painful periods and monthly bleedathons, having 2 babies without medication, I THOUGHT I was a pretty tough cookie. This surgery is not for wimps...that's for sure! It sounds to me like the pressure is part of the process of healing and staying off my feet with a heating pad has worked the best for me.

A WORD TO THE WISE: Take it easy. If you feel good - just hang out and feel good. DON'T OVER DO IT. I learned this one the hard way.
