Interestingly enough- I'm not at all nervous about my upcoming surgery. I did make the mistake of searching You Tube for hysterectomy surgeries (I've seen other types of surgeries posted, so thought- why not?). Eeeek. I am not going to post the link here because there was weird music to it and it gave me a feeeeeeeeeeeeeling that it was some weird fetish video. Yech.

But it was a true vaginal hysterectomy. I don't imagine I'll be wanting to sit down for a while after having that done.

Those that have had the vaginal, how long before you were able to sit comfortably? Seriously- that video made me CRINGE!

On another note, I am feeling like I'm going to start my period any minute now. I'm not really on a schedule (two weeks, three weeks, five weeks, whenever my hormones want to kick in, etc.), but the signs are all there. This means that I'll be on my period for my pre-op on Tuesday. The doc said he'd do a gyn exam to make sure everything was OK. Yech, maybe I can get him to change his mind.

And since I'm rambling.... I've noticed something new in the past couple of months. I'm wondering if this is worth bringing up to my gyn on Tuesday. I've started having lots of pain in my lower left abdomen- typically it happens after I've been walking a lot. It's not constant- just a couple of times a week or so, but it's really painful.

My husband says it sounds like his hernia symptoms, but I can't imagine how that would have happened. I'm not overweight and don't lift heavy things.

Do you think I should ask the gyn take a look around while he's 'in there' to see what that might be?

Hi,

A week away! Wow...your day is almost here! I had a TVH and it really wasn't as bad for me as I built it up in my head. I didn't find sitting to be too bad afterwards either. I did get sore if I sat too long during the early days of recovery, but other than that, I didn't have any vaginal pain.

I think you should mention any pain your having to your doctor before your surgery. He may be able to look around and find the source and maybe even take care of it during your surgery. You won't know until you ask and you dont' have to hurt.

I hope your surgery and recovery go well!

Mention anything and everything to your dr. at your pre-op so he knows if he's looking for anything specifically for you when he's in there.
There is a list of pre-op questions here too that you may find useful to take with you.
