Upcoming hysterectomy (3/24) at 29 for endo. Recovery time??

I'm having a lapariscopic hysterectomy on the 24th of March, cervix, fallopian tubes and uterus are goin, ovaries are staying (unless they look bad, then "Bye Felicia!"). I'm so exited I can hardly wait. I've been pleading for this surgery since I was 15 years old. Now, I've had 2 laparoscopies for endometriosis before this, and recovered really quickly. I've only been able to squeeze 11 days off work (all I can afford), plus its a desk job.. No heavy lifting unless you count carrying my department. Anyone have any glorious and speedy recovery stories??? I'm not at all nervous or anxious and any pain after surgery will be peanuts compared to my daily pain now. Is it the 24th yet??? I can't wait!!

Re: Hysterectomy at 29. Recovery time??

I am 46 years old and two weeks out from surgery. I had my uterus, tubes, and cervix removed. I seem to be recovering quite well and although I cannot go back to my fitness job, I could see being able to do a desk job at this point. I do get tired much earlier in the evening though so you may need to schedule in some nap time. Be sure to take it easy though, I can see how someone could feel good and over do it.

Re: Hysterectomy at 29 for endo. Recovery time??

I had an LAVH and started an internship at 10 days post-op (I'm a full time student and needed do to an internship then--the start date was non-negotiable). I was lucky enough to be able to carpool with my internship supervisor for the hour long commute (each way) so I did not need to drive. Being away from home for 12 hours each day was completely exhausting so soon after surgery.

Some sisters have trouble sitting / standing for long periods during the initial recovery but I was fortunate to not have that problem. I think wearing an abdominal binder also helped me out a lot in that regard as well.

Best wishes for a smooth surgery!
