5 weeks post op
Tuesday will be 5 weeks for me and upon standing washing dishes last night I felt burning, ripping, fire in my left side, I had to sit down. I have been feeling fine and able to do normal housework but today at the grocery I doubled over in searing pain, what's wrong with me?

Re: 5 weeks post op
I would contact your Dr straight away. A burning intense pain should be investigated. I am also 5wks TAH and now comfortable with walking and hanging washing and bending but no general housework or gardening. Sometimes by late afternoon i will have pain down my hips and lower abdomen but i think this is when i have overdone it. Listen to your body, was what my Dr advised me. I hope you are ok.

Re: 5 weeks post op
Ty...I've been fine other than my energy level but this sudden ripping pain in my side scares me. I only stood for 15 minutes. Then today at the store not very long and when I sat down, the sitting I still felt the tearing, I hurt so bad I was crying. It finally subsided after sitting awhile but now I feel sore. I'm calling the doc tomorrow but I was wondering has anyone else experienced this, its so odd since I haven't done anything strenuous only standing, I'm so frustrated bc I thought I was doing good other than an infection which I'm taking doxycyclene for.

I hate that! So far I have had that "tearing" feeling once when I was brushing my teeth, once when I rolled onto my stomach in bed and occasionally (dare I say it?) when I walk my dogs. As soon as it happens, I run for the Ibuprofen 800. Please let us know what your doctor says. We are with you! -Pam

Re: 5 weeks post op
Ty so much. I will def.post what she says. The only way I can describe it is it feels like I'm tearing on the inside. My husband told me to go sit down but its hard to explain what I'm feeling to him bc he has seen me keep the house picked up, do laundry and cook every night and no sex bc the doc hasn't given me the go ahead. He's afraid he will hurt me so he doesn't ask. I'm only 36 and so frustrated. I'm ready to be myself and supposed to go back to work soon but I don't think I can stand all day which my job requires, heck I can't even stand 15 minutes to wash dishes.

Re: 5 weeks post op
Ok called the doc, she had me come in immediately, she did a urinalysis which is fine, took blood for blood count which will come back in about 2 days, did a vag exam and took a culture bc I still have a discharge, did a pelvic which I wasn't as sore, gained a pound which means 6 pounds in 3 weeks...yikes, now I'm at the imaging office getting ready to have an ultrasound to see if something is torn inside...ugh..been poked n prodded all morning...will post results after ultrasound.

Did your doctor release you to be doing laundry & cooking? It sounds like maybe you are doing too much. I hope you find out today what is going ok. Keep us posted.

Re: 5 weeks post op
Ultrasound came back fine, she put me on flagyl in addition to the doxycyclene I'm taking and said that the pain may be coming from the bacterial infection but hopefully I will be all healed up ny my next appt next Tuesday bc I am supposed to return to work next Wednesday. She did say she removed a cyst from my ovary when she was in there n that may be what's causing pain too. I feel fine today, just vaccuumed for the first time, no problems, just fatigue. Who knows?

Re: 5 weeks post op
She said it was ok to vacuum too? My doctor was really different. Strange how some of us are told to wait for 6 to 8 weeks & others are allowed to do it. Be careful.

Re: 5 weeks post op
She took off all my restrictions, I was shocked too. I wonder if the feeling I felt was a cyst on my ovary. She did tell me she removed one off my left ovary during surgery....hmmm
