Let the recovery begin! (Wow is this long)

Hi Ladies! I got home yesterday, but my computer is upstairs and I didn't venture up until bedtime. By the time I got up there, I was too exhausted to touch the keyboard.

Thank God my surgery was uneventful. Fibroid was the size of a LARGE grapefruit according to my dr, but the ovaries were fine and they got to stay. Yeah! She also said that I had a bit of adenosis (?). At least I think that's what she called it. Some problem with the walls of the uterus that she felt caused my cramping.

Anyway, the surgery was a breeze. (I don't remember anything from 7:30 am when they started my IV until I woke up un my room around dinner time.) Ironically, I was put on the maternity floor because the castle was full. Never thought I'd be there again. lol. A friend's daughter was there too and had a little girl. it was great to be on a floor where everything was happy and positive. My roomie also had a TAH. She doesn't have a computer so I told her all about this site. Her name is Wanda; please keep her in your prayers too.

But back to me.....I didn't handle the general too well. I started puking around 9:30 and again at 2:30. Then i started crying and couldn't stop. I kept saying why did I do this to myself; why didn't I just put up with it. Boy, do I hate being a crybaby and a whiner! But the nurse was great! Her name is Angel and she certainly lived up to it that night! (P.S. The crying also happened when I had my c-section 15 years ago with an epidural.) After a shot for nausea and pain I finally slept about 2 hours. Then everything was great. The pain was minimal; never above a 3. I was up and walking around with no problem. I purposefully kept the food light with the puking and all. Not too much trouble with gas.

All in all things were looking up.

The ride home was good. I rememberd my pillow for the seatbelt. Got settled on the sofa. Then my MIL made some lunch. The bottom was about to drop out. I was feeling great, hadn't puked since 3am Wed, so I thought I could handle some food. Just a little chicken soup and toast. Was I wrong! About an hour later my stomach felt like it was filling up like a balloon. I got up to walk to the bathroom and the room started spinning. I held onto the kitchen sink as all the blood drained through my feet and my hearing went and spots formed before my eves. My MIL grabbed a chair and a bucket. After what seemed like an eternity, my lunch finally came up. I sat there for a few more minutes and then my MIL helped me to the sofa. I hope I never experience that again!

My MIL had a TAH 6 years ago so she knows firsthand what I'm going through. I don't know what I'd do without her. Actually, she's come to kick me off the computer right now. I'll try and sneak back on later.

It's so good to be home!
