How should incision feel?

I'm 3 weeks post op. At my 2 week post op appointment I met with a nurse practioner as my dr. was unavailable. She said my incision was healing well. She felt around and said that she feels all 3 layers that should be there. Anyway, a couple of days ago, I noticed that when I feel around my incision, there is one spot that is harder than the rest, is this normal? I've been taking it easy all along (no lifting, pulling, etc.). Is it hard on the healing if I'm feeling (lightly) around my incision a few times a day?

My DR didn't feel around my incision. He just looked at it and said looks good. I think he was only looking for infection or a popped stitch. Doesn’t it hurt when you touch your incision? Mine is a little sore to touch.

Yes - the incision will feel different at different places. I was told that it's scar tissue forming.

I was also told to worry about my incision if it was red, hot/feverish or had a discharge.
