Question regard post-op intercourse

I had my hysterectomy on 12/08/08, and went for my 6 week post op appt Monday of this week...Doctor said I was doing well, but still had to use the silver nitrate on the cuff ... told me to wait a "few days" before having sexual intercourse with my hubby due to the cream would burn him as well. I asked and was told this weekend we could try. Well, we did and it was very painful and I bled ALOT. It was very dark to begin with and was very "clotty" then it went bright when I wiped. I am scared that I have done something too soon...Not sure if it was just cause it was the first time or if I wasn't healed completely.
Has anyone else experienced this??? Do I need to call the Dr. back and see what he says?

It's possible that you're not fully healed yet. Sometimes one silver nitrate treatment is enough but there are those of us who require more than one treatment before the vaginal cuff is completely healed.

Never hesitate to call your doctor when you have a concern about your recovery. Until you can speak to your doctor, it would be probably be a good idea to hold off longer on engaging in intercourse, just to be on the safe side.

I would call to be on the safe side. I waited until my 11th week so I knew I was healed all the way & didn't have any problems. I still had stitches healing at my 7 week appointment.

What is this all about? I had a Partial, Overies, Tubes,cervex taken threw Vagina.

I am concerend with all these things that can happen, Omg..
I was walking and back at the Gym Within a weeks time, I am Pushing it But I am an avid Runner and I lift weights too, But I have Not ran in 3 weeks and Lift Lightly a few days a week.

If women on this site do have bleeding the first time, it's not heavy with clots usually. I would call the doc. to be on the safe side. And wait a lot longer next time than you (or your doc.) thinks you need to.
